If you count wierd little swimmy things that don't do anything as fun, then get some sea monkeys!

I had some once, but the big one turned cannibalistic, and ate all the others. I bought some new sea monkeys but didn't have the heart to flish my biggy down the loo and he ate all the new ones too. Then I refused to buy anymore sea monkeys and he died :(

All pets require time for care.

I find a cat is pretty easy to look after and really fun because there is no cage to clean, and they come litter box trained. But you still need to keep a litter box clean, feed, groom, play with it etc.

I think a rabbit or a hamster...
With rabbits all you need to do is change water every 2 or so days ,feed everyday and then clean out every week. They are really cuddly and they always have a great character my rabbit has gone for mardy big fat french lop mode but they all have fun personality's.

Rats...I used to own 42 of them.. they are active and playful they are alot tougher than hamsters and ill NOT bite unless they're hungry and then they just nibble on your fingers abit..by the way their tails aren't uber disgusting and if you do get a rat get a baby one...Thje adults form the pet stores are not handled enough and bite a hell of a lot more often.

Hermit crabs.
You can put loads of accsesories into their tanks - plants, coloured gravel, hide outs, pools, statues, etc.
You can also get "paint a shell" kits where you paint a shell and put it in the tank and they move into them!
The are basically LOW matenence! Hardly any cleaning is needed and the pool would need rinsing once a week. They dont eat loads either.

Unfortunately if you are asking this question, I don't think you're ready to be in charge of another living being. If you don't want to have to take care of it then get a beta fish that lives off of the plant that grows in its bowl. To have a fun pet is to have a pet that requires lots of care. So, before you go out and purchase anything please make sure that the animal you pick will fit your lifestyle.

Gerbils,

They can be very tame if you buy direct from a breeder, only need their cage cleaning out every 2 weeks and their food and water topping up as they use it all.

They are nosy and clever and great fun.

A ferret!!! they are just like cats, you can litter train them they can live in or out of a cage and they will play with you, They do a dance called the weasel dance and they chase you, and they fetch and they get into your cupboards, and they destroy toilet paper by the rolls and they hide your clothing. they are a blast!!!

A cat. They interact with you, crap in a box, and are easy to feed. Just fill up a food dish daily, scoop out the box about every other day (or more), and enjoy! No walks OR barking! =)
