It's a good idea,
however it seems people do it wrong.
They will more likely listen to their friends than their spouse. Their friends may not have their best interest in heart and may be into controlling people.
So people are throwing their lifes away by destorying their marriage to be slaves to others.

It is a good idea it is just not as common as it used to be. People used to work at marriages and stay together but since people have been given the option of divorce, loads of people are just breaking up and finding someone else. Especially as nowadays divorce is an easier process than years ago. The diminishing of religion has also equalled to the idea that marriage is unfashionable.

Well Mrs witchy Bad B,
I think it is unfashionable. But also that's its a good idea. For Christians it's a necessity though because men are told to marry their virgins.
I think it's out of fashion because in our society we have walked away from being responsible for others and put self first before others. There is a lack of preferring the other person. Putting others first is on the decline.
My reason for thinking it's a good idea outside of my christian belief is that marriage causes a pull in relationship from either side. I know this is not realistic for everyone. But it's a sort of unity agreement of reciprocated tongue tennis.
Thankyou so much for your time.
This is such a good answer and I give my self points on several levels for this. SO THERE!!!!!

We live in a quick graditude era. Marriage requires work and humility. Unfortunately most of us today are quick to hit the delete button.
Marriage is a good idea - what s not a good idea is that when people say, it's over cuz i don't feel the same way about you, or I am not in love with you anymore. Love does not have to be nor is it EVER going to be like it was when you first met. Things change. But people don't want that kind of commitment anymore. You may not think that way, but who knows if you mate may think that way.

It isn't unfashionable, but it is a great idea not to marry for the wrong reasons such as getting pregnant!

Although married women are now the minority in the world and that 50% of marriages end in divorce, I still believe that marriage is a good idea. It all depends all your moral values and how devoted you are to your partner.

Marriage is a good idea if you plan on spending your life with someone. Good for kids, that way you have legal access to them. Good for yours and your spouses possessions so when your spouse dies it doesn't go to the state and you don't have to fight them to get them back.
You get taken more seriously when making a big purchase like a house.
Employers see it as a sign of stability... I'm sure there are more.
