No, I wouldn't say that. Wrestling started to stink a tad while he was still in WWE/F. After WCW went out of business, the Alliance angle sprung up (with Austin inexplicably leading the corperation that turned it's back on him) and really bombed. WWE couldn't get a majority of the high profile superstars who made WCW when it first closed (i.e. Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, Hulk Hogan, Sting, Goldberg), so the fans were stuck seeing the main event players of WWE go against the Upper Midcarders and worse of WCW. Even the few diamonds in the rough of WCW's alliance were tarnished of their legacy in WCW. People like Diamond Dallas Page and Booker T were poorly booked, or stuck in gimmicks that made them look like a grinning idiot. There were just a lot of things that could've been done better, and Austin was still around.

I don't think there's ever been a definitive time where wrestling was bad, aside from maybe the Attitude Era. You can give me all of the heat you want about that remark, but it was terrible to see Degeneration X dominate a card. I remember one show of Raw I had on tape from the late 90's had Mankind jobbing to Road Dogg for the hardcore title right after a very played out D-X entrance, and followed by X-Pac in a match, then I think Roadie made his second appearance in a New Age Outlaws tag match, and then there was a segment where HBK was coming back as commissioner, and of course Triple H had a match. It's just boring to see them every single week overbooked on the card. Make any snide remark about me saying this, but the days of the Clique were very boring, even though the payoff was the rise of Triple H, the Rock, Stone Cold, and a lot of new then, now legendary, talents. WWE's just in a reincarnation stage. We have to establish the faces of tomorrow before we can have at least five to ten years of goodness.

it got bad when cena and edge started getting title shots........the fact that christian is the NWA champion makes me hate TNA......so both brands have gone down......but tna only has midcard players.....and wwe is mostly trying to feature mid card so so players.....taker and michaels need to win the championships so balance of the force in wrestling will be back.
