Well, two ditsinguishing characteristics.
Huricanes, have a certain path, if your not on the hurricanes path, your okay. But the damage it causes is horrid.
Although, tornado's have emense damage also.
The olny thing is one has water the other doesn't.
But tornado's are unpredictable, they jump from path to path, drop for five minutes, raise , and two hours later drop again.
I would rather face a hurricane.
Hurricane warnings go up to a week in advance.
We're lucky to get 15 min. before a tornado hits.

I have been through several tornado's,and 1 hurricane,Tornado's cause more damage,and lives lost than most hurricanes,because tornado's happen more frequently through the US and with out warning,hurricanes all though more powerfull are all ways predicted,and most people refuse to evacuate to a safer place,to answer the question,Tornado's are the worst weather anomaly that a person would want to experience.

I have been in both. Hotel I was in was wiped out by tornado in 2000. Hurricane Charley destroyed my house in 2004. I will take the tornado any day-over in seconds. Being huddled under a mattress trying to protect your child for 6 hours is no picnic! Fortunately, we were not hurt. I'm gonna run from the next one!

Hurricanes give you plenty of warning, even tho their path of destruction is greater. Tornadoes are quick and powerful. I've been in Florida for a number of years now and have been lucky enough to never be seriously harmed by one (knock on wood).

I don't prefer either of them. And after going through Hurricane Katrina (we stayed, did not evacuate), I would much rather go through a tornado.

I don't prefer natural disasters. How bout rainbows and warm spring showers? Tornados are cool looking though. Seen plenty of'em.

I don't think you can categorize either as safe. I've been through tornadoes...so I'll stick with that.
