Both me & my partner have never seen the point of a little piece of paper *proving* that we are committed to each other.
Weve been together for 23 yrs, have got 3 children, which is longer than most of our friends who have been married, had kids, divorced, married again, had more kids & divorced again.

I think now people are staying commited to their relationships. People aren't getting married they way they used to. Its not looked down upon being with someone and not being married. I'm sure it has its reprecussions if something happens to one of them without a will or anything. But I know the next time round for me I will not get married. To some marriage is a sacred thing but I think you can still have that with out the paperwork!

The world is an evil evil place now...what ever happened to real love...I mean people used to get married because they truely loved someone and wanted to spend the rest of their lives with that person...now people aren't even convinced about the person they want to marry..I totally belive in marriage, and I think it's totally underrated and I'm married and enjoying my life, maybe better than I was when I was single...at the moment people aren't into marriage, but I think after they finally realize that marriage is what's missing in the structure of society, they will come back to it..

I have been married for 6 years this year. It was the best thing i did with my life, we sealed our love with marriage, we have only had each other, which is something im proud of, the union is so powerful and feels so secure. Marriage is the gift you can open explore and enjoy year on year., anything else is the gift you will always wonder whats inside..........

Its too expensive. Marriage is a circus with candy sticks, popcorn refills and photos with the acrobat for 10 dollars.

Weddings are now becoming competitive, getting more & more expensive with elaborate receptions. I reckon its better to save that money and use it to buy a house to give the couple a good start, perhaps thats why less weddings are taking place.

its too easy now to get a divorce so i think its better not to rush into anything , if a couple stay together and get on after a few years then a good idea , but it is sooo expensive think it puts people off

I think people have a lot more options now, so they don't feel as if they have to get married. It really is up to the individual and why he/she is choosing to do it.
Yeah, it's not as fashionable in San Francisco where I'm from. Unless you're gay.

Marriage is a good thing, if it's the right thing for you. Not all couples feel the need to get married, and that's perfectly ok. But it does offer legal benefits and protections that can be useful.
