Being in an area of extreme temperature and being dehydrated. Finding out a shocking truth. I've never fainted before but the heat is a sure bet.

Faint? Lots of health conditions. Low blood pressure, low sugar, etc. But fainting over emotional issues? That was something that happened to women back in the days of corsets. Something traumatic would happen and when the woman tried to take a deep breath because of the shock of the bad news, they couldn't because the corset was so tight and they'd faint. Soon as the corset was no longer worn, women stopped fainting over everything.

hello!

the answer is very long actually but I will try to keep it simple:
the main reasons are cardiac and non cardiac.
cardiac - problem with the heart valves, problems with the cardiac rhythm etc'.
non cardiac - vaso-vagal - whice can be called a "stress induced" faint, problem with the blood circulation of the brain - CVA, bleeding of blood vessels of the brain, epilepsy, etc', blood chemistry abnormalities - hypoglycemia, hyponatremia hypokalemia etc'.
I know that it sounds like to much for the average person. my advice to you will be to consult your family doctor.
if some one witnessed this fainting episode it is very important to tell all the details to the doctor because it may guide the doctor to the probable diagnosis and for the next exam to be done.
hope I helped, feel well!

Hmmm...traumatic event, not getting enough air, sudden drop in blood pressure, low blood sugar -- that's all I can think of...

if you hyperventilate (breath in and out really fast... makes you winded) and someone punches you in the stomach... or squeezes you, you will pass out. my dad did it as a kid, thinks its stupid now.
