I've noticed time and again how many people are using Barak Obama's name agianst him. He is a human being, and a person...NOT a name.

So then, how much does the race or ethnicity/background of a politican really matter? As long as they do the job they are supposed to do and treat everyone else with respect, who cares what a name is! Those who keep on commenting are making themselves and the American people look like uneducated rednecks...and that's not an image I want of people I know are better than that!

I agree! Your name was given to you by your parents...not something you have a lot of control over. A politician should be judged by their ideas, their productivity and their experience. Race, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation are all irrelevant.

To the uninformed--- to caste your vote only basted on skin color is foolish and probable bigoted. Senator Obamas name is a talking point because of his religious back ground. We are fighting a WAR against Islamic extremist, and that issue will be pivotal in the 2008 election. How much religious conditioning, from Muslim indoctrination at his school and his home, is part of the man he is. How many things that are ingrained in us in our formative years as children are so simple to toss away as he claims that he has done. Is he against the war on Terror Being played out in Iraq right now, because we should fight terrorist or because we shouldn't fight MUSLIM terrorists. We need to know before we turn control of our country over to him as our next President.

Race does matter. The Congressional Black Caucus is a racist organization. Does not allow Whites. The mainstream press points out politician's race all the time. Don't be naive.

using a huge stereotype and I apologize in advance but it's a demographic thing

Anyone making fun of his name would be voting Republican anyway so I don't think he has to worry about that

Yes, there is racism in politics and it will hurt him. I'm an Obama supporter and I hope voters can get over his colour and name and elect a proper candidate such as him

I never consider race. What in the world does race have to do with anything other than the level of SPF sunscreen one may need?
