It is possible to have a false negative. When you tested there might have not been enough human chorianic gonadraphin (hCG) in your system to show up. Try testing again with your first morning period (when hCG levels are at their highest).

Sometimes a test can be wrong, nothing is 100% accurate. They're pretty close though.
Take another test, or maybe another two if you really really want to get rid of any doubt. Probably consult your doctor if you don't want to buy another two tests, they will be able to tell you for definite.
I'm not quite sure on the timings on everything, e.g. how many days after having sex might it start to show up on a pregnancy test, but if you do all of the above, and they are all negative, then you're probably not pregnant.
It is possible to have a very late period or miss one altogether for reasons like stress. (Probably waiting for the period to come didn't help).
Obviously I'm a guy giving advice, but going to the doctor is probably the safest bit of advice you're going to receive here.

YES. Pregnancy tests can be very wrong. My godson is proof of that. Because the take at home tests are looking for a hormone in the urine, there is always a chance that that the change in body chemistry will be so slight that it will not show up. If you are concerned that you are pregnant, and the take at home tests are not giving you definitive answers, the next step is to go to the Dr and have them test you. There tests are more sensitive and have higher accuracy.

Home pregnancy tests detect pregnancy hormones in your urine. The hormone, while present within days of conception, some times isn't strong enough to be detected by some tests. The hormone gets stronger the longer you are pregnant. It may have been present only in traces the last time you took a test, but if you are pregnant, it should be much stronger by now.
I'd take another test--especially if you have reason to believe you might be pregnant, like having engaged in sex without birth control.

It's not common, today's tests are pretty accurate, but I do know someone who has 2 kids and both times she had to have a blood test to be sure - the home urine tests kept coming up negative. Try again in a week or so, and if it still says no but no period either, get a blood test.

The EXACT same thing happened to me. I was late and took the pregnancy test and it was negative. SOOOO --- I waited and waited and still no period in sight. I called the dr. and went in for a test at the office and sure enough --- Pregnant !
So, go visit the doctor and let them give you a test at the office.
Good Luck.
