At night i just cannot stay awake. I just lie on my side and baby lies next to me to feed, that way i know i won't drop him if i fall asleep. The trouble is he then often ends up spending the night in my bed with me!

Oh those were the days. I always fell asleep while nursing. lol Just lay down while you're doing it so you don't drop the baby!! I can't say I figured out to stay awake though. I fell asleep 8 out of 10 times at least.

The baby or you.
I always fall asleep with the baby at night when I am feeding her. I stay on the couch or turn on the tv and that helps...there is generally something on Nick at nite.
Keeping the baby awake...try just the diaper or oneise and bur[ping him or her every five minutes or so

No actually I took advantage of this time to snooze with my babies. I never really fell into a deep sleep, just a light rest stage. The best way to not fall asleep is to keep yourself occupied so you don't doze off. Watch tv, read a book, or whatever you need to do. Good luck and keep up the good work.

at night it wouldnt matter what i did i could sit in the rocking chair with out rocking and still fall asleep so to prevent falling i would go lay back in bed on a towel and feed as far as during the day if i was tired i could fall asleep with the light on even at night asleep with the light on but during the day awake i would watch tv so try anything you want goodluck

okay, I don't breastfeed, but when I am feeding my 3 week old at night, I watch TV, read, listen to the radio. It helps a lot. I avoid laying in bed to feed him as well. It just makes it so easy to fall asleep.

*lol* No. That is why you should NEVER nurse anywhere that it would be dangerous to fall asleep. Always baby proof your bed, you will nurse there eventually.
For a long time I couldn't fall asleep unless my baby breastfed, I would lie there until my baby woke up and fed.
Take care!
