Sub-division for a more homogenous group of people if that is your goal.
Home owners Association if you want everybody to be in lock step.
Independent if you don't mind a new neighbor moving in & starting a hog farm or fighting cock ranch. More freedoms and more risk.
Sub-division for me & my family.

If I had the choice I'd prefer to live separately, not in a sub-division. Somewhere where the properties are individual and have their own lot boundaries. Some of the sub-divisions look like boxes in fields.
However, if anyone wants to give me a property to own that is free or I can afford to buy then I would be so grateful I wouldn't mind either location!

As with boxers or briefs, it Depends!
A deed restricted subdivision helps ensure you don't live next to a pink and purple house with three cars on blocks seen once year when they mow. And, it helps keep the Christmas lights from staying on the house so long the vines grow into them. Unless you're in my subdivision where the rules are only sorta adhered to depending when the bovine board member decides to stop chewing her cud long enough to do her job.
A nice area without deed restrictions is ideal IF it's already built and you're among other NICE homes that are well-maintained and not in the relative vicinity of any prime land for WalMart to plop a Stupor Center. Of course there are no added fees for the luxury of living somewhere that Big Bertha isn't going to be whining that you planted a tree without her approval.
So, with that said, it's up to you.

I'm inclined to live apart from one. Especially in well-established areas. You get more character and you're likely to have better appreciation because you won't have to work quite as hard to make your property unique enough to sell when competing against the others in your sub...i think. :P

id like to live independently . why ? because youll take your freedom in everything you want to do. privacy is very important. if you have pets, you dont have to give excuses because when you live independenly no body on earth has business with you..
sub division, expect noises, faces of people you dont want to deal with, great percentage of misunderstanding to neighbour around you. many many disadvatages.

confident you should be incorrect and technically you're trespassing. you're able to obey the guidelines of the land proprietors affiliation on a similar time as a customer which you're able to have won a written permission from one among them earlier fishing. Lesson found out

I agree with newjdguy. I have the same fat and lazy board member in my community.
I would like to live on a large lot, not many neighbors. Subdivisions have more cons than pros if you ask me.

Personally I like the country setting better. No close neighbors, places for pets to roam. Betting place to raise children,
