My friend is doing their thesis on public opinion of space/space program and how it changed before and after going to space, focus on 50's - 85 or so. Any ideas on good sources, websites, new thoughts on the topic would be welcomed.

Thanks

Here are a few sites that can be utilized for research on this topic. I would love to see a correlation of education level and positive and negative opinion on space exploration.

I read the book. It was and excellent overview of the Space Race!
If I recall correctly it was on the New York Times Best Sellers List.

When then President John F.Kennedy announced the plan to put a man on the moon, we were in a race with the Russians to accomplish this. Without the political component, we could have explored the entire solar system with unmanned spacecraft in much less time.

At one time people thought lunatics belonged to be on the moon.
Today those who would have gone or going to the moon would be considered national heros.

Your friend will probably have to go through old editorials and polls back then. If you ask any one now on how they felt then, it will be filtered by the years.
