I can't tell you how much because I always found free help. If you haven't had the baby yet, take advantage of the hospital's lactation consulatant. Talk to her while you are still in the hospital and call on her as many times as you want while you are starting out. Getting the latch right is probably the hardest part. But, if you're having problems now, you can call your doctor's office and see if they have one that is free. Also, try the county health department. They often have nurses on hand. You also might want to just talk to someone from your local La Leche League. I never met with them, but from what I understand the members are generally more than happy to offer help and encouragement. Good luck!

Out of pocket, it will cost $65-80 an hour for a certified lactation consultant.

Most lactation consultants are employed through a hospital or drs office so they are paid from them. You sould not have to pay for thier services. If you contact an independent consulatant you will have to ask for thier prices. I have not had to pay for any services or to have questions answered. Your local WIC office might have a Lacation Consultant on staff who can answer questions and help if you are having problems. Good luck

I dont know what you need one for but you usually dont have to pay someone.

The Le Leche League is a great resourse for nursing mothers. Also, if you havent had the baby yet, get help fromj the nurses in the hospital. I know they helped me a lot! Also, other breastfeeding mothers are always helpful. I dont think it is necessary to pay for this.

It depends on your insurance company and if they will cover some of the cost and only charge you the copay. If you don't have insurance I would call the La Leche league and talk with them.
