First of all, to some of the people that responded before me:
Switching a baby to whole milk at 11 months instead of 12 months will not kill them........sheesh! It is not like they go to bed the night before their birthday unable to digest whole milk, and wake up on the first birthday with the sudden ability to drink it. 1 year is just an average. Most babies are fine to have whole milk by 10 1/2 or 11 months.......it depends on the baby, not the exact age.
But anyway, my pediatrician says that children 10 to 12 months of age should have 16-24 ounces of formula and/or whole milk per day. the combined total of the 2 should not be more than 24 ounces. My 11 month old gets two 8 ounce bottles of formula and two 4oz cups of milk, one with dinner and one with her snack. She is fine, happy, and healthy.

how many oz of milk should an 11 month old be drinking per day?
and do other dairy products--ie: cheese, yogurt count towards that milk intake?

32 oz of formula is way too much. My pedi said she should be drinking aroun18-24 oz and that was 2 months ago. My daughter is 11 months and she drinks about 16-18 oz. I give her cheese every now and then she's had yogurt before but not regularly but I wouldn't contribute any of that in to the amount of formula she should have since they are 2 different things.

An 11 month old should stay on breastmilk/formula until their birthday, then introduce the whole milk. Yogurt and cheese are okay at this age though :)

Zero, kids shouldn't get milk until the age of 1. Yogurt is fine for children under one. Be careful about cheese, it causes constipation (and is also not good until after the age of 1). So long as they get the recommended number of dairy servings per day they can come from different sources, but milk also helps keep hydrated.

An 11 month old should drink between 20-32oz of formula per day. I wouldn't count the other dairy as there are far more nutrients in formula than cow dairy products.
Also don't be in a rush to start giving milk instead of formula at one year.
"Let your baby set the pace, but if he continues to consistently take more than 32 ounces or less than 20 ounces, run it by your pediatrician."

SWITCHING TO MILK
I've been feeding my baby iron-fortified formula. When is it okay to switch to whole cow's milk? Research comparing cow's milk and formula-fed infants during the first year of life has shown that cow's milk is irritating to the intestines of a tiny infant, causing infants to lose a tiny bit of blood in their stools, contributing to iron deficiency anemia. There is very little iron in cow's milk anyway, and the iron that is there is poorly absorbed. Concern about iron-deficiency anemia has led the American Academy of Pediatrics, backed by solid research, to discourage the use of cow's milk in children under one year of age. One of America's top pediatric hematologists (blood specialist), the late Dr. Frank Oski , Professor and Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Johns Hopkin University (and co-author of a book entitled: Don't Drink Your Milk) advised parents to be cautious and not rush into the use of cow's milk, even during the second year of life. At present it would seem prudent to continue giving your baby iron-fortified formula during the second year of life and very gradually wean him to dairy products, beginning with yogurt. If your toddler generally has a balanced diet and routine hemoglobin tests show that he is not even close to being anemic, then switch from formula to whole milk sometime during the second year, but don't be in a hurry.

Your 11-month-old shouldn't be on dairy quite yet. Doctors don't recommend dairy until after 12 months of age. If your baby is hungry, feed her formula or finger foods.

NO MILK!!!! What are you doing? Ask any pediatrician, the reason they say no milk until 12 months is because their digestive system can't take it and they can bleed(very little)internally and cause pain. Pudding, and yogurt are okay but not straight milk. Wait until your baby has their one year shots, then start milk!
