I noticed that restaurant food is never as satisfying as a meal made by your own hands or somebody you know personally? Should I see a psychiatrist or this common? lol

THERE IS DEFINITELY A DIFFERENCE. AS A CHILD I WOULD ONLY EAT MY MOTHER'S MEATBALLS. I WOULDN'T EVEN EAT MY GRANDMOTHERS MEATBALLS NEVERMIND EATING THEM IN A RESTURANT! NO WAY!! THERE WAS JUST SOMETHING ABOUT MY MOTHER'S MEATBALLS THAT MADE THEM TASTE SO GOOD. THEY WERE A LABOR OF LOVE. SHE WORKED SO HARD AT MAKING HER TOMATO GRAVY FROM SCRATCH. IT TOOK HOURS.
TODAY YOU CAN JUST GO TO THE STORE AND BUY IT IN A JAR , COME HOME , THROW IT IN A POT AND HEAT IT UP. NOT THE SAME AT ALL.
MY MOTHER IS NOW IN A NURSING HOME. NO MORE HOME COOKED MEALS MADE WITH LOVE. IT IS JUST NOT THE SAME ANYMORE.

I feel the same way, cooking is a labor of love. If you cook that way it'll always taste better and be more satisfying. Cooking to eat just to have something to ingest is not satisfying. You have to go to a really good restaurant 4 star or 5 star before you get food like homemade . Most other restaurants always prepare the same thing the same way, and prepared by indifferent people. Never mind a psychiatrist, follow your instincts :)

The food that you prepare at home is always better because at home you don't have an obstacle that restaurants have to contend with and that is profit margins. Given the option you will usually shop for the high quality ingredients. Restaurants will buy ingredients that unable them to make the most on the meals that they sell.

Restaurant food is taught to be prepared for speed to get it to the customer. Even the same quality ingredients will not taste a good because of the impersonal effect

You should watch the movie, "Like water for Chocolate." The first time I watched it it spoke to me about how making things by scratch (even using hard work to beat eggs into a soft peak with a whisk vice using a blender) make everything taste better since your hard work and joy of making it, comes into the final resulted flavor!

I know home food is better, healthier, and more satisfying. AND you can relax in your sweats while you're eating.
