yes. Why i think that it is treated like this is because in the 60's and 70's the hippies where the governments worst nightmare. The one thing that brought all the hippies together the one thing they all had in common was marijuana so the government made the laws on it tough. They say now that because of the 60's and 70's drug use there are more kids with mental disabilities then there where then. But you have to look at the technology we have to discover this disabilities today and what we had in the 50's,60's,70's and even the 80's. When under the influence of alcohol you can't even perform simple tasks (walking straight, talking, or touching your nose) yet you still think you could go to work or drive a car. When you are high you don't want to go to work or drive a car you just want to chill and in 2-3 hours you are fine and could do any simple or major task.

I really would not be comfortable with a heart surgeon operating on me after a session of smoke, or flying with a topped up pilot at the controls, seriously though I have worked with many types of addiction and the big problem that I have experienced with long term dope smokers is that of schizophrenia in the long term.

Here here. WTF is up with that?? Luckily, my job doesn't test for pot...and for the record, I smoke almost daily and work for the #1 firm in my state, all my performance reviews were excellent and I almost never miss a single day of work unless my daughter is ill. So, kill the whole lazy junkie stereotype.

The guy below me needs to step off his high horse. Pot is being used medically all over the world and the only reason it's being criminalized is because the government can't tax it. A junkie is a bit of an overstatement.

well alcohol is legal, so an employer can't really penalize you for something legal. (of course you cant go to work drunk though)
and i have known violent potheads, quite a few of them. and violent drunks. and nice drunks. so it also depends on the person. i think being absolutely stupid should be illegal. i also know potheads who can't really have a good conversation when they aren't stoned, but drunks who can when they're sober. but really it's all just my experiences with it, and that's not really a good way of coming to conclusions about an entire group of people. and yes, i also think pot should be looked at again by the legal system.

Marijuana is a highly addictive drug that can change your behaivor when high or sober. You may even forget how to spell your name. Trust me I know. You get burned out and most likely harm others by harming yourself while working or outside of your job—This would also give a bad name to the company— and thus making it really hard for an addict to get a job. They'll only supply their addiction by their income and people dont want to deal with that morally and work-wize.

I would say don't ever smoke anything, its all bad for your health. If you are into it, its very hard to get out of it but it is never impossible, so if you are into it brother get out of it as soon as possible otherwise you'll regret one day!

Ignorance is bliss isn't it? You can get fired for drinking just as easily as you can get fired for smoking pot.
No one wants to hire an alcholic anymore than they want to hire a pot head.
