I am on a compettitive swim team. While swimming Freestyle and butterfly , I havent been able to move my arms fast, just this one slow steady pace. Also my arms will hurt when they are bieng liffted out of the water, and they also feel really heavy. Some days it is worse than others. May time added 7 seconds in 1 month.

Is this normal? What can I do about it? What is happening?

The pain is up the side of my arms to my shoulder.

This sometimes happens to my legs on a kicking set, but as much.

We also have a dry land workout for half an hour before as well.

Is this just your arms? You might be experiencing some dehydration. Muscles don't work well when you don't have enough water in your body.
You might also be tightening up when you get in the cold water. Stretching out for a longer period of time can help that.
Otherwise, if you are a believer, see a chiropractor he/she may find your problem.

keep on stretching them arms and if u really want to improve when u practice by yourself you should wear those heavy suits that have weights in them and swim laps and the when you compete it will feel like a few pounds got lifted from you're body and will make it easier and faster for you.

yeah you just need to ice ALOT and take some advil. your muscles are just sore from over working. if you ice and take advil, you should drop those 7 seconds right back off.
