I own and run an airbrushing/art store and i'm always on a time schedule. i accept walk-ins and give them a time when to come back and pick up their orders, so my problem is that other customers and mainly other vendors are always stopping and wanting to talk and talk and talk with no consideration that I am working and most of the time i have my radio blasting to give a hint that i don't want to be bothered!!!!!!!! but they still stop to look at the displays on the wall which is fine, and making a comment is ok too,but when they actually stop and strike up a conversation just blows me away cause they see me working?????????? what is the deal? how do i stop this without hurting any one;s feelings?
signed...about to blow any day now!!!!!!!!!

Drives me crazy too. Tell the vendors you are busy and schedule a lunch appointment to chat. They get to buy.

Explain to the customers that you have to get this out but Ask the good customers if they can come back later so you can take them to lunch or coffee and chat.

Customer Service is all about communcation and talking.

There are two parts to most businesses, technical expertise, and sales and customer service. If you lack either, your business will struggle.

You have an open shop. A shop is pretty much just a wide open front for customer service. If you dont want customers, or potential customers coming in, shut your shop down at certain hours.

Or you can hire another person to handle the customer service while you concentrate on the airbrushing.

What you cant do is leave your shop open to the public, and complain when they come in.

I have the same problem. I've started pretending to have a hearing problem. I let them spill their guts then say "huh" did you say something? Then I fake taking a phone call and they usually walk away rather than spill their story again. Good luck. I hate rude as.s people like that. Maybe you should start taking valium too that works for me well. I just wear a bib for the drool.

Put up a sign: "Dont talk to the owner"..j/k ..

Maybe they dont really see you busy. Usually when people see that you are exasperated or really busy they pick up on this.. But I dont really know what you do at your store so I couldnt tell..

You can probably set up appointments for people that want to consult with you.

That or just DISAPPEAR from your store every now and again!!

What I did is change the time that I do the work. For customer service its so and so hours and the other times the gate is locked so no one bothers me
