Broad it is. But are your interest that broad? Where are you most knowledgeable and comfortable? Then select fields that are in those parameters or consider being a multi- counselor. Just like you can have more than one degree, you can have degrees in different fields and do both. Problem solved. You're doing everything you love and helping twice the people. SMILE, good luck.

I recently graduated as a psychologist and now I am working with homeless kids. I decided a long time ago that this is the area in which I wanted to specialise in. Perhaps that is what you could do first of all. consider in which particular area you want to work in.
Counselling is a very mentally and emotionally draining job, but it can also very extremely rewarding.
Hearing peoples problems day after day can be exhausting, you MUST be prepared to care for yourself first and foremost. Care for the carer I guess. But you will never succeed in this field unless you take good care of your own emotional well-being also. Good luck to you.

Try getting a Masters in Professional Counseling, somewhat similiar to Social Work, but much less case management I would assume.

that may not mandatory. it truly is a marvelous container. that must be like coaching Race motor vehicle Mechanics. there is not any longer something incorrect with motor vehicle shop in intense college, yet being extra specific is probably no longer sensible. might we initiate coaching Drug Counseling? No, it truly is too specific. common sociology or psychology at intense college point may be adequate. And sure, i'm getting the tongue-in-cheek factor, yet weapons and weapons advancements have consistently been factors of interest for us people, no longer in basic terms in the time of conflict, and there have been circumstances while the international had a lot extra combating going on, humorous how ya in basic terms observe it while it is your united states of america.

The broadness of it, while intimidating, should actually help you. Counselors are needed not just in mental health offices, but in schools, hospitals, homeless shelters, jails, rehab clinics, etc. Narrow down the field of people you're interested in working with (kids? drug addicts? people with chronic illnesses?) and go from there.
