I have a trojan horse on my computer and I'm trying to get rid of it. It's not really messing anything up or slowing anything down though. The only problem is that it keeps trying to get me to download "get rid of spyware" stuff that is actually spyware itself. I have spysweeper and am running it for the 3rd time trying to get rid of it. Oh yeah one more problem. It wont let me access Yahoo directly. Like i have to go to yahoomail.com to access my mail and then use a link to get on Answers. weird huh? i also have a Norton Anti Virus Protection program that has destroyed some viruses today but anyway...how do i make my computer go back to the way it was pre virus?

More infomation and another free removal tool called RogueFix can be found here:

Most "All-Purpose" malware apps such as AVG, Norton, Spybot etc unforturnayly can not remove this vile pest called Smitfraud.

Good luck.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. You have to know which files contain the Trojan horse. So identify those first then do the following. Take it out in safe mode. go to start...and then run...in the box that opens type msconfig that will open a new window that has start up files in it. under the boot tab...put a check mark in the safe mode box...and click OK. it will ask to restart your computer tell it yes. once it restarts....go to your add remove programs and uninstall that way. After you are sure you got it all run the msconfig again and take the check mark off the safe mode start and click OK and restart the computer. I got my Trojan horse viewing the international auto show website. It got past my Nortons too but caught it when it was trying to get back out. I think when you get it removed everything will be back to normal. Nortons won't run in safe mode. Safe mode only runs what is necessary to support windows.
