It's pretty easy. You are going to need a crossover cable, or two ethernet cables and a hub/switch/router. Go ahead and right click My Computer, and go into properties. Make sure both computers have the same Domain set. Whether it be MSHOME or WORKGROUP. Now make a new folder on your desktop. Rename it to whatever you want, then right click it. Click on Sharing and Security. Click the button that indicates, "Share this Folder" Hit apply and that folder should be able to be seen by any other computers looking for it. Put whatever files you want to share inside this folder. From the computer that you do not have the shared folder on, go to My Network Places which can be found in Network Connections, or simply in any window type "My Network Places" in the address bar. Here there should be something like "WORKGROUP", or "MSHOME" Double click that and inside there should be the shared folder you made. Good luck, and I hope I helped.

If you can you;ll need a hub.

connect both to the hub and then change your network settings on both to be in the same workgroup and the same ip address range...192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2

then you can transfer files between the two....If you don;t have a hub. you can make or find what's called a cross-over cable...
it's just a standard ethernet cable with some crossed wires, you can find info on the net on making one....

decrease the protecting sheath of your ethernet (CAT5e) cable yet also in simple terms be positive you do not decrease the insulation seath that covers each and each individual wires. Pair up the wires - eg: blue-white & white, white-brown & brown, blue-eco-friendly & eco-friendly,etc. purchase 2 RJ45 connectors and at ont end push interior the wires. make positive that they pass proper in to the position the gold holders are interior the RJ45 connector. on the different end, make positive the stressed out are paired as you probably did the first time, yet this time once you twist the wire round so as that the first wire interior the first end turns into the finest wire on the second one end. After connecting the RJ45 connectors into the comps, pass to My community places and click "create small workplace community" follow the wizard and your peer - to - peer community will be common.

You need a "crossover cable" not an ether net cable.
This allows two way contectivity and the ethernet only allows one way.
