I just bought a BBT thermometer at CVS today and it is cycle day 4, is it ok to start taking my temp. in the morning even though I missed the first three days? Also, it came with these plastic protective covers, but I'm planning on taking it orally. Does the cover thing make a difference? I would really appreciate your advice!!

no the covers are just for protection and it you were gonna let someone else use it...i bought that too from cvs i think it was purple and it worked good ..but also try their ovulation sticks the cvs brand...that is how i could tell i was ovulating and i got pregnant ...i think they range from 12-17 dollars...so its well worth it...good luck ...lots of baby dust..

It is fine to start taking it tomorrow--many women, myself included, skip the first few days of the cycle. The plastic covers--you don't need them if you will be the only one using the thermometer. Just be sure to clean the probe end of the thermometer with a little alcohol and lukewarm water every few days.

The plastic covers are just to protect you from germs, since you'll be the only one using it, and you'll be using it orally you don't have to use them. And yes you can start first thing tomorrow morning. Just leave the first three temps blank and go from there. You'll still be able to tell when you ovulate. Remember to take your temp at the same time every morning to get accurate results. I wish you luck.

You can start charting whenever. Just watch for patterns, and realize it will probably take a couple of months before you really understand what your chart is telling you.
I never used the covers. ... Just, um, don't stick it anywhere but your mouth.
