My son Matthew Jerome Powell was shot and killed while in handcuffs by the LAPD of the Rampert Division. He was only 24 years old. He was my youngest son. I wish someone would help me get public awareness about this being done too often. This shooting happened on January 22,2007. Please help me!

I would think that lawyers in LA would be all over this as would the media IF the story is the same as you tell it. Lawyers are so hungry for money they would make up a story to get a pay day so I am guessing if your story is true they would be lined up five deep at your door. Wonder why they are not?

First, let me start by saying that I am deeply sorry for your loss. But I don't think you really want to turn your son's death into a "show" but I understand you want the public to know what the police did to your son and your family.
I suggest you get a good lawyer and sue the LAPD for the wrongful death of your child. Any lawyer worth his salt will call a press conference and your son's story will be on all the local news channels. You can also write letters to your local newspapers for print in the editorial section or maybe a reporter will call you for an interview.
But talk this over with your attorney first so nothing you do can negatively affect the case.
