No, you couldn't. The only way to do online play through your DS is by using the Wi-Fi Connector. The connector itself is only 35-40 dollars. The DS Browser is more around the range of 60-70 dollars, and is a bit more costly. The DS Browser is great for, well this.. Yahoo, Google, MSN, E-mails, just about everything you do online. The only down side of the DS Browser is that you can't like download games, or listen to music on them. But, for the casual E-mail user, it's the perfect item.

The DS browser is for searching the internet, as the person above me indicated. If you are interested in joining a community of Animal crossing friends, then just search Google for Animal Crossing Community and you will find a great batch of folks who will want to visit your town and have you visit theirs. In order to wifi you need to either have wireless internet or go to a hotspot like your local McDonalds perhaps, or buy a connector that will allow you to wifi. The connector is around $30.00 to $40.00 and plugs into the USB port on your computer.
I really recommend doing this as your gaming experience with Animal Crossing is much more exciting when you wifi!

You do NOT need the Nintendo DS Browser for this aslong as you have a wireless internet supply near you (or in your house) and have the friend code you can play others but the browser is for slowly browsing the internet.
