I've seen some around campus wearing teal, some blue, pink, green, burgundy, even black!

It depends, sometimes if they work in a hospital the hospital may have a color or an individual may have a color. For example to distinguish between a pink trauma nurse and a blue surgical nurse. In other settings they can order whatever color scrubs they want so it's personal choice.

I guess it depends on the hospital?

There are no standardized color codes for nurses, although, in certain hospitals Ive noticed that certain types of nurses will all wear the same uniforms. These colors are not followed nationally, regionally, or even neccessarily on a day to day basis by those nurses though.

I think personally, it's where they are helping. One color is for helping surgens, one is medicine, one is actual nursing-taking care of the people in the hospital...food, daily pills, ect. But that's what I think. Whatever they are trying to become or who they want to help.
