No -- moving to another state to go to college was very exciting. My siblings were already out of the house for three years before I moved away -- so I didn't miss them as much. Of course I missed my parents, but I saw them summers, holidays and the occasional weekend. I went home about once a month (until they moved across country my senior year).

I hated High School and loved College. I never knew that there were others like me out there until I went away to college. I didn't study in High School -- so had a rough Freshman year learning how. But I did learn, and did very well in my next three years.

You will be fine. Take advantage of the opportunity you are being given.

And yes -- I will wish you good luck.

I'm in Europe and I moved to another COUNTRY when I started college!! It was both scary and fun. Of course I missed my parents and sister, but nowadays the internet makes communications so much easier... if I had an urgent question or just needed to talk to people back home, I'd email them or go on aim/msn/icq.

It takes time to adapt to a new environment.. how much time? that depends on the person.. in any case, moving to a new place is great experience! new places, new friends, new experiences....

Umm my first semesters in college were the hardest ones... once you survive the beginning, the rest flies by easier and so much faster.

I wish you the best of luck this fall!! :)

Good luck sweetie. The idea terrified me but I didn't end up going to college right out of high school and by the time I did, I was able to go locally. It's a big life move for sure, but you'll be fine. I hope you enjoy the heck out of it and reach the goals you have set for yourself!
