Hi , this's a message that i want to deliver to all the ppl in the U.S , or any other place in the world outside Egypt : I f you think that Egypt is a DESERT and that students go to school riding camels , so PLEASE STOP .
Will you plz add to your information (i mean you ppl out there ); that here in Egypt we have streets , clean houses , i Pods , MP3s , MP4s, new cars ,computers, laptops, and everything else just like any other country , but that doesn't mean that we don't have many poor places too , so don't judge the whole country just by seeing these places , and we having PYRAMIDS , doesn't mean that Egypt is a desert !!!!!!
so , what do you think , about that !??

I think you are exaggerating or you yourself are very ill informed.

Just a moment I have to get the kangaroo out of the house!.........

See I am in Australia, oops a koala just appeared at the window.
I hope the Aboriginals don't attack again before I can answer your question......................

That's better,all's quiet now.
What I was trying to explain is, you will always find a few people, who know nothing about what the world is like beyond their own front door. But as an Australian tour guide who works in Egypt part of the year,I have found most are acquainted with what to expect in modern Egypt.
There may be more concrete than they thought there would be, and the traffic rules seem very obscure.
But in general, most tourists know as much about Egypt as they do anywhere else.
Some know more than many Egyptians. .
The world is now a global village with the age of technology and fast travel, well and truly established.
Countries in the west are becoming absolutely multicultural.
I can speak for Australia. We have many Egyptian migrants as well as those from all other countries in the world.
We also have suburbs were you will hardly see a sign in anything but Arabic, and you feel like you are back in Cairo by the shops and the people around you. There are marriages between Egyptians and people from western countries happening every day.
It is just a shame that conditions were not better for the average Egyptian. So they could afford to go and buy all the things you mentioned that are available in the shops.
But that is up to the Egyptian people to change, no foreigner can do that.
We can also see the negative as well as the positive things about todays Egypt.
But all we can do is watch on and hope, that the pride the youth feel for their country can bring about a positive change in many things.
Egypt's future is in the hands of its youth, and you are a part of it!

It's always frustrating to listen to people who think Egypt is a desert and ask if we have cars yet! Some people don't even know where Egypt is. It's partially their fault b/c they didn't widen their horizen by reading, studying about the country. But it's also partially OUR fault. U should see the documentaries about Egypt here in the U.S. It always shows the pyramids, the poor and ugly places in Egypt, etc. I'm not saying that these places don't exist, but if that's all we are showing the rest of the world, then what do we expect them to think? They wouldn't learn about the modern culture, b/c we aren't teaching it to them. We, as Egyptians, have to present it to them in a different way so they would change their idea of Egypt.
So ur question is valid, and ur ideas are very accurate, but as someone else said, u are posing the question in the wrong section. Most people who come to this section are either Egyptians who live in Egypt, or Egyptians who live outside of Egypt. We need to spread the message to non-Egyptians.

Actually many people but not all Americans don't know much about other countries. I think they started to change. We have also many people who thinks about US people like what they see in the American movies. In that point (Americans should blame their cinema production) many people around the world thinks that All American wives cheating and men are cow boys, but it's really not true. I'm Egyptian and I know that.
I think many Americans should have more information about regions where they send their army. I hope no one get that as an insult.
If Bush himself was cultured enough to know that beside the oil in Iraq there are disasters that he might cause and it might be reflected on USA itself, he should have listened to others.
Sorry my American friends if you are real Americans. We hope you all come here and visit or live, but without guns and bombs.

Your question is a great one because you are one of many who are opening up the flood gates of information between countries that has begun in the internet age.

Chat, and interaction, and information being shared will make us all informed about all the world one day. And this information is more powerful than a weapon and it does a lot more good.

Thanks for informing us!! Keep it up!

LOL! Most people with even a shred of intelligence already know that what you say is true. For those who don't, they probably don't have a high enough IQ for you to waste time getting exasperated over.
