I need to purchase a gate to keep my baby from falling down the stairs. Any advice on which gates are best?

I run a daycare and have tried many different gates--this one is definantly best http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4664297

Also, if your child's bedroom is upstairs then get a cheaper gate to go in the doorway of his/her room as well as an extra percaution.

Gates for the stairs should be any kind that you can mount in the wall. Pressure gates can easily be pushed over, and the child tumble with it.

Gates at the top of stairs should be the screw in kind, the pressure kind aren't safe enough for the top of stairs.

Cheaper gates are good for door ways but when you buy for a stairway, cheaper isn't necessarily the better. You definately want a mounted one that swings and that is easy for you to open and shut when you are holding baby.
