If she is putting the pups in her cheek pouches then she is stressed and confused. If the pups are still small enough to fit in her pouches then you shouldn't be poking around in there. The rule of thumb is to leave the female undisturbed and don't touch the pups until their eyes are open and they're walking around the cage on their own, around 16 days old.
If the pups are in her cheek pouches, there's nothing that you can do other than leave her alone. I know that she is your friend and you mean her no harm but she doesn't feel that any longer. She has thousands of years of instinct telling her that anything disturbing her pups is a threat. Get out of the room, close the blinds, turn off the lights and any sounds. Hopefully she calms down and extracts the pups before they suffocate.
A hamster mother will normally transfer pups with her mouth. It is only a confused and stressed mother that will put the pups in her cheek pouches. Unfortunately, many of the pups that get put in the pouches die either from suffocation or from the mother eating them when she removes them from her pouches.

Hamsters that are stressed or not in a quiet place, or really anything can and sometimes will, eat there babies. Hamsters also sometimes move there babies by putting them in their mouths. There is really nothing you can do, except make sure she is in a quiet, non-threatening place. If she is going to eat it, it is going to happen at one point or another.

well its going to need some oxygen so the only thing i can think of is to just get it out gently Ive never heard of a hamster eating a baby or putting it in her cheek ill try and find some info for you.
How old is the baby?
here we go...
One unusual behavioural trait which is observed sometimes is frightened mothers protecting their young by putting them into the cheek pouches.

I remember my hamster doing this when I was a kid. She spit them back out and they were fine! Very strange!
hav eyou handled the new babies? If so this may be why she did it. If I was you, I would put her in a quite, dark space and leave her alone. She may feel threatened.

she is trying to protect her baby...she is upset about something and fears for her babies life....if she is in a quiet place she may calm down enough to empty her cheeks before it is too late...
if hamsters eats her babies it means she needs calcium...get her some doggy milk bones...that helps...

I had mice that ate their babies. You might want to take it out of her mouth and monitor her actions with them. Bes of luck!

If she did then at some point she is going to kill it that is what she will do if it strayed away from her at any one time then she lost it's scent and she will kill it I do not think she will eat it she will just kill it.
