Without a doubt I think it is Adrian Aucoin of the Blackhawks. He was just awful again last night, with bad play resulting in the final two goals against. He has been hurt most of the 2 years in Chicago, and I can't figure out why he wears the "C" on his sweater.
Who else out there does not deserve to be captain of his team.

Saku Koivu. He has been the captain since 1999 and cannot get past the second round of the playoffs. I guess you could even go back to 1994 and all the captains before Koivu. With the salary cap and draft in place, the Canadiens cannot hand pick all the French-Canadians anymore. It must be tough seeing that dynasty become a less than average team.

I would have to agree with Aucoin; he seems out of his element but in his defense the coaching and ownership of the Hawks suck. I think its a losing situation with even the most average captain.

I am surprised someone said that Modano was the worst captain (or if he wasn't replaced this season he would've chosen him). Modano is extremely respected across the league and is always talked with the heighest praise by the league. Forget his records and his exceptional talent he has led a team to a few conference finals, a cup run and winning the cup. There were other leaders on the Stars at that time but all of those veterans looked to Modano to pick up his game (which he did always) and pick them up. He is very much like Yzerman in that way, he leads by example rather than direct instruction which is sometimes all that is needed for a team built on veterans. I think now that Brenden Morrow is a better captain for the type of team Dallas has now but I had to say something to defend Modano on this one.

Jagr's not doing such a good job for the Rangers, IMO. Neither is Sundin for the Leafs. But you may be right about Aucoin. How do the Penguins not have a captain? I thought every team was required to designate a captain.

I would have said Modano, but that was taken away from him this year......The senators have Alfredson, but I think Redden would be a better choice, not sure who the Columbus captain is.......you are right Aucoin does seem like an awful choice.

I really liked Aucoin w/ the Islanders, he was a good player don't know what has happened to him.

The only reason Aucoin wears a "C" is because they are paying him too much not to wear it.

oudie32: Modano is no longer the captain of the Stars. Morrow is.

I'd have to go with the dude in LA. Norstrom. Jokinen and Marleau aren't good captains either, as they're young, and incapable of being leaders.

OK why is everyone saying so-and-so is a bad captain because he isn't an awesomly talented player?
It's about leadership and knowledge, not necessarily skill

Adam Foote is not really captain material. he is getting old and cannot due much. i personally think he should be traded. i would make David Vyborny or Klesla captain. ( but im not in teh locker room and i don't know them so i don't know for sure.

P.S NASH SUCKS!
