testing earlier will not give an accurate result because you body has not made enough HCG yet. Follow the test instructions.

If you try using it earlier than the 4 days it is highly unlikely that you will get an accurate result. Those tests are not even particularly accurate when used 4 days only - only 56% of women who are pregnant will get a positive result when used 4 days early.
They only become accurate when used on the first day of the missed period.
I tried using one the day after my period was due and got a negative. I didn't get a positive until 2 days later.

Save your money and wait a few days.

First Response and, believe or not, Walmart's generic Equate pregnancy tests are the most sensitive home tests on the market. Tests detect the amount of HCG, the pregnancy hormone, in your body. Your body does not begin producing until after implantation, which is usually 6 to 12 AFTER unprotected intercourse. When it does start producing, it starts out VERY low and doubles every day. Depending on your body, you can use a pregnancy test about 19 days after unprotected intercourse. People usually have the most accurate reading around 22 days after sex. You should go buy that timeline when taking a pregnancy test, rather than the four days or one day before you period.

Yes you can test 4 days early like it says on the box but if you read the fine print its only about 60% or less accurate. So if it comes out negative chances are you could still be pregnant

I wouldnt test any earlier than 4 days before because the percentage of accuracy will just keep going down

I have tried first response earlier and it was negative and it was an accurate response because I was not pregnant. However I do recommend that you until you miss your period. Because hcg is only released in your blood after the egg is implanted. The egg is only implanted 7 to 10 days after you ovulate. So if you calculated wrong you could be way off. Also, the test can be expensive if you end up buying three or four in month because you keep testing to early. In this case patience is key.

NO ...Don't waste your time, money or emotions!
They are only accurate for a SMALL portion of women as earlyas they advertise (it says so in the insert) like 30% at 5days early and 60% at 3 days early.
I know it is hard to wait but it is better in the long run....think what if it is negative and you are sad upset the in 5 day, 2 weeks, a month whatever you find out you are...all that time and money on the first test wasted!

yep - i have tried it earlier than reccomended - and the BFN _BigFatNo.. not sure if this is a correct result as yet as i have to wait till sunday to test @ 4 days early! ...
the test picks up hormones produced in pregnancy and it normally takes 12 days after fertilsation for the hormone to be prolific enough to be in your urine. some ppl produce more than others. if you have used the test early and have a positive result - then chances are your pregnant as the hormone is only present if you are - or if you are taking drugs containing it!
hope my babble makes some sense to you.
good luck xx

i never used first response when i thought i was pregnant with my second child i got the store brand test and took it like 5-7 days before my missed period i just drank little fluids before bed slept thru the night and then used the first piss of the morning it has the most concentrated amounts of hcg then any othertime of day especially in the days before you miss your period so i had a faint positive but it was there and i didnt waste money on the expensive other tests and then after i missed my period i took another store test to put in a box with a good line for my hubbys birthday present since it was a week away so it depends on how you do it and when plus i say go cheap but my hubby still made me pee on the good brand stick ept after he got the bday gift just to make sure so good luck

I did a normal test of ebay, for about 1 pound and it came back positive 5 days before i was due. I think it just depends on your pregnancy hormone levels.
