looking and no luck... is this the end of my journey now?

It would all depend on the person who does the hiring, and the willingness you display to learn, even though the majority of the jobs require them, alot have some form of training program. Another thing you have to consider is...... even though they require a high school diploma, do they expect you to bring it? I've never had a job where I've had to bring my diploma, i just have to say that i do have one ;-)

Go up north to Alaska. There you could find jobs without HS diploma and earn enough money to live on. Physically tough work, but the pay is good. Talking of course work in the seafood industry.

Flipping hamburgers in a fast food restaurant. Not a lot else.

If you want to get anywhere, you need to get that diploma. Contact your local school system--they can tell you about adult education programs to get a GED.

sure, there are plenty...........housekeeping, line cook, landscape worker, night shelf stocker, assembly line production worker, roofer.....etc......without at least a diploma, you should expect to work hard, and not get paid a lot for it.
