Picture this: It's late at night, cold and windy with a wind chill of about -20. The town marshall gets dispatched to a house to get a dog off the roof. He called the (volunteer) fire department to the scene so that he could use a ladder. No one responded. He had to go somewhere else to borrow a ladder. Then he climbed up, caught the 60 lb dog and carried it down.
Yeah, it's a small town.
