I turned in an application a week ago, and called today to check up on it. I was told by an employee that the manager said she would return my call in a couple of days. I want to show I'm persistant, so in about how many days should I call again?

This is a tricky question. I am a retail supervisor and I have to tell you that it is extremely irritating when people call. I think that it is best to follow-up once. If you don't hear back, then there is probably a good reason for it.

3. Truthfully a number I pulled out of the hat, but that would work if I were the manager. If it's retails, you might show up and ask for the manager tomorrow? That can't hurt.

Assuming a couple means two, I would call in two or three. But if she isn't prepared to set up an interview or speak with you then, I'd move on.

If she does not call in a couple of days, call her back on the 4th day.

"A couple" is usually 2 days. If she said "a few" I'd wait until the morning after the 3rd day.
