CONGRATS ON YOUR BABY BOY!

Some newborns have a fine, downy body hair called lanugo. It may be particularly noticeable on the back, shoulders, forehead, ears and face of premature infants. Lanugo disappears within a few weeks.

Dont worry.. He will be fine.. and congrats again!

Congratulations, Mom. Here's the funny thing about babies, some are born completely hairless and others have fuzz all over them. My son was a fuzzy. He had it on his back, on his ears, seemed to be everywhere. Don't worry. During the next month, that hair will actually rub right off and most of it won't grow back. Please don't put anything on the baby to try to remove the hair. He'll be fine. If you really think he's monkey-like covered, you should talk to his doctor, but I'd say leave it be.

My first was also a boy with TONS of very dark hair! He had it everywhere! Ears, neck, even his back had noticeable hairs on it. Don't do anything about it, even if it bothers you. It WILL fall off eventually. His ears were the worst and every time I fed him I'd play with the hair on his ears and it was pointy and made me think of an elf. But he's 3 now and hasn't been hairy for years. It's completely normal.

It is very common for babies to be born covered in hair, especially if they were born a little early. It will fall off in time, I promise! My son was born looking like a little warewolf and within a few weeks he looked like a perfectly normal beautiful baby boy. Good luck and congratulations!!

It will fall off eventually. When my daughter was born she had so much hair you couldn't tell her eyebrows from her hair line. It was on her back and ears and everywhere. It fell. Now she doesn't look like Harry from Harry and the Hendersons. I didn't do anything. It just falls off. I think around 8 weeks or so.

That hair is called lanugo. On most babies it falls off in the womb before birth, but others are born with it. Nothing to worry about, it will go away on its own :)

All babies are fully covered with hair when they are born. They have it on them in the womb to protect their delicate skin. It will eventually fall out- my little girl is two months old and hers is just starting to be shed. Don't worry, your baby isn't a freak!
