I like Knutsford. The town is charming and quite "ye olde english" in its layout. I heard that they are planning to redevelop and modernise the center.. hope thats not true. I don't know about Sugar Pit Lane though.... maybe they stored sugar there in the past.. but maybe something else entirely.

Even the historians don't know this, it seems. :o(

There are apparently some lime pits to be found in the area, but nobody has a clue where the sugar pit thing came from. See the article below for details...

I don't know; it's almost as odd as "Land O'Green Ginger" in (I think!) Hull.
"Knutsford" itself is an odd name - legend has it that King Knut/Cnut/Canute forded a river there, but I don't think there's a river in the vicinity.

I really don't know, but I love knutsford. went to a spa there for my friends hen party! Was lovely, such a nice area!
