Good Question! To sidestep the whole "What do you mean by corrupt?" thing, I will define corruption as an act or action that betrays the trust of a seperate entity other that the entity being corrupt while at the same time recieving a boon from thier action.

For the world to be corrupt the world would have to betray something other than itself. Since there is nothing else betray, the world is not corrupt. A more accurate question would be is the world immoral, and good luck with that one!

Many of the nations of the world are indeed run by corrupt governments. This is why the UN has been so completely ineffective against dictators such as Saddam Hussein. Had they not taken bribes from said dictator they would have likely pressed the issue of inspections and Saddam would have likely relented. Instead, he bought and paid for their services, and the US was forced to go to war due to that simple fact.
Remember that many of the world's worst crimes continue daily in multiple countries that seem ok to the UN such as torture (no not taking pictures of naked prisoners, real torture) political killings, the starvation of political opponents, rigged elections, female genital mutilation, slavery, the misuse of women, ect. These are all pushed under the carpet for the UN-popular disdain for the USA and Israel, two respectable Democratic nations.

The biggest problem right now is that the Dem party wants America to be just like all the rest of those nations, but under their control forever.

Best advice I have ever received from a boss was, "If you want to be successful in this world you have to look out for number 1 - yourself. If you don't, you're going to end up as a loser, a big loser." We are corrupt as human beings because we only do things for selfish reasons. Not always true, but usually true most of the time.

In short yes. The world has been corrupt since the fall of man during adam and eve's time. Before that it was perfect harmony. It was heaven on earth with man, God and nature all connected before sin entered into the garden of eden.

The World isn't corrupt, the lives we lead are.

Always was, always will be.

The average honest person believes they are not corrupt. Everyone has his or her price, and it doesn't always mean money.

So don't blame the World.

I think that's pretty much the purpose of life here on this planet: To prove you can spend decades living in a cesspool and come out smelling like a rose.

Simply put: YES.
It seems as though no matter how honest a person is or how much integrity they seem to have, somehow when they become involved in big business or politics, they become corrupt.
