They're playing Bayer Leverkusen in the UEFA Cup and it kicks off at 6.05pm - I would imagine to the annoyance of many of their fans who won't get home from work in time.
So, why is it kicking off so early? I don't think I've ever known a midweek game in the UK to kick off at any other time than 7.30pm, 7.45pm or 8pm.
There must be a reason. But what is it?!

Purely down to German Television. They will be showing the Ajax v Werder Bremen game live after the Blackburn Leverkusen match.

It will almost certainly be because the German TV company that ar showing the game have paid Blackburn a fee to kick off early. Germany i believe are two hours ahead so this would be 8.05 in Germany. Presumably top money is paid in advertising during this mid evening time.

It is because German television requested it kick off at that time and their request was granted by Blackburn.

Germany is an hour ahead; maybe they want to show the game as early as possible so they can show another one after it.
