YES it does work...for me anyway. okay this is what you do, probably around 7-8 oclock at night take about two-three table spoons of castor oil and mix it with orange juice(or any kind of juice, i did orange) drink it straight down, it may taste a little nasty. Then if you can walk! walk for maybe 45mintues. Then have sex. go to bed. please make sure you put a towl under your bed sheets though because ur water may break, mine did! and you SHOULD go into labor sometime in the night. You may have to do it a couple of times though if you dont go into labor the first time. I had to do it twice!! it really did work for me though, i swear! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure you are far enough along though!!!!!!!!! good luck!

Castor oil works to make you go crap, thats about it! If you are wanting to go into labor (at an appropriate time) take a warm/hot bath, have a signifigant other "stimulate" your cervix, and then walk. repeat that until you have contractions close together. but as far as castor oil, it could cause alot of harm to the baby, it isnt worth it!

This is an old wives tale. Drinking the castor oil causes a lot of "cramping" that some people mistake for contractions.

I tried it with my first when I was young and dumb. I would never do it again. It didn't work, all that happend was I was glued to the toliet, and it alot of pain. My daughter was born with alot of meccomium, and had to have a peds team there when she was born. I know that they do do that when they are overdue, however, because there was so much, and because I know the afect it had on me, I am also sure that it was because of the castor oil. She could have ended up with real trouble, as it could have gone into her brain. As it was they had to suck out her lungs. Please be careful. It will all be over soon.promise

That stuff is nasty. Don't drink it, it doesn't always work. It is a laxative, although that part of it didn't affect me. I've had it work once and do nothing at all once. I do not recommend it, it's not worth the nasty taste. You can't get rid of the taste and it makes you burp. (Think about the taste you would think motor oil tastes like) Plus, it's oil so it doesn't mix with anything to make it taste better. It makes you feel like you're about to throw up without warning and when you're 9 months pregnant that feeling is the worst.

Before you do it, please get the doc's ok. My midwife told me it was safe to use as long as I followed the dosing they told me to do. It pretty much depends on your body if it will work ir not. May or may not. Good luck! And I really hope you have a good gag reflex if you do drink it, blah....

i was told not to use it bc it makes you go poo... thus making the baby go poo also.. and the fecal matter in the womb is hazardus to the baby.. ie if the baby swollows it.. just be patient and the baby will come on its own...
