Hitler. Who did he think he was kidding?

I'm doing this in history at the moment lol, and I think it's because, in the 6 year period that Nazis were in power before the war, there just wasn't enough time to change the attitudes of women that were widespread at the time, partly as a result of the Weimar period. Women, especially in the middle class, didn't want to to stay at home, and have children for the Fuhrer.

However, I wouldn't say that it failed. The birth rate did fall, although how much this was a result of Nazi policies isn't certain, as the country was just coming out of a depression, and the birth rate would probably increased anyway. Many lower class women would have preferred to be homemakers than work in factories etc. The whole situation is much too complex to say it failed.

Divorces also increased at the time as well. Hope this helps!

Adolf Hitler believed that women's vital role in society was to be at home, looking after the children and being a good housewife.

Meanwhile here in UK [and also I believe in USA] we took the Anglo Saxon point of view that women should work. By c1942/3 all women of working age 18-60 were conscripted to do 'war work'. War work included working in the factories and on the land. If a woman wanted to work on the land, she joined the Land Army. Many women also signed up to the armed forces - their role to do the office work, to operate as anti-aircraft gunners, etc.

In UK because women were recruited to work it released more men for the armed forces. Not doing this was Hitler's greatest mistake. By c1943/4 German war production was almost at a standstill - they could not match the speed and efficiency of British and American war production. [No one could ever match American war production - period].

By day the United States Army Airforce [USAAF] bombed German industry into the ground. At night came the Royal Airforce to destroy the worker's houses. This combined strategy worked and it drove German war production into the ground to the point where it was unable to operate from late 1944 onwards.

If a woman's husband is sent off to the front line, how is she to become pregnant? It is not going to happen. Hitler's strategy was to the advantage of the Allies.

Result - Allies won, Nazis lost.

Hitler wanted to increase the Arian population so women were given incentives to stay at home and have a lot of children. They were presented with medals each time they reached a certain number. Women were also forced to have sex with chosen men who were thought to be of PURE BLOOD, they were also many rapes by the same type of men. So! many women did not increase their families by choice they were forced into it by the totalitarian regime that became germany from 1936 and through to the end of WW11.

Because women were required to help in the war effort, also because you cannot command women to give birth and you cannot control the quality of the babies. A lot was written on Hitler's efforts on this subject, I think you ought to try and find it.

I reckon it was 3 things:
1) when the Nazis took over, the country was on a massive financial downer & so people were cautious about having kids
2)because women had to take over more jobs as men were sent into the army
3)once war had started, the incentive to have kids reduced still further.

Hitler wanted his pure Aryan race. Women who met his standard were encouraged to have children by men who also met his standard. It was a patriotic duty for women and it was completely permissible for a woman to remain at home and have babies under his rule.
