It's my first time there, I'm going with my husband, I'm really excited.
We are thinking about staying in one of the mid priced New Orleans resorts, rather than the cheapest ones because it might be less noisy and manic... and we can do the cheapest ones when we have five kids...

I'm a bit confused about tickets to the park, I am most interested in classic 50's Magic Kingdom and Epcot. Maybe go on a few rides. I'm assuming one park per day is fine and that there is loads to see in the evenings.

Should I be looking online for tickets for rides?

Also what is the weather like in Florida in late March?

Any advice or thoughts?

I think that you would really enjoy the moderate resorts. The value resorts are fine, especially if you don't plan on spending much time in the room. The value resorts are more popular for families (kids love them) and groups, so yes, they can be pretty noisy. If you are able to stay at the moderate, I think it would be well worth it. Also, you have the boats at French Quarter and Riverside, that is also a nice touch. All the moderates are great, but the Port Orleans resorts are nice because they are smaller and a little easier to get around.

Since hopping is almost $50 a person, and you plan to only visit the two parks, I don't think you really need to add that on. Since you are only going to be there for two nights, you won't have as much time in the parks, so you won't want to spend a lot of time going between them. So, I would say a base pass is fine for you.

The rides don't cost any extra to go on, they are included in the cost of your admission ticket. Your ticket would cost $140.58, each, for you and your husband. That gets you into the parks, the use of Fastpass, and anthing else in the park. Souvenirs, pictures, etc. are all extra. I've included a link to some price breakdowns on tickets so that you can see what they would run you for different options.

If you are planning to go in March, I wouldn't wait too much longer to get your room and passes purchased (especially since you are going during a busier time). I was looking into going around that time and a lot of rooms and views are sold out, so if you wait too long, you may not be able to get a room. I would also consider getting a package because then you could add on the dining. So for you and your husband, at a moderate resort, for two nights, with dining and a two day base pass, you would only be paying around $1,200 total, estimating it a little high. The dining is great and you can save a lot of money, it would make it a little more special for you, and when you go with the whole family you may not be able to do the dining. I would recommend booking either with Disney directly, or with a travel agent. There are a lot of sites online, but since you are new to Disney, it may be a little easier for you to have someone that can help you plan a little more (Expedia, Travelocity, etc. don't really offer any help)

Weather wise, March is pretty nice. The weather is still cooler than the rest of the year, but getting a little warm. It can get a little chilly at night, especially in Florida terms, some people bring a jacket or something just in case. Rain wise, it can be a little rainy, but really not too bad.

Have a great time

The mid price resorts are pretty good - plenty of space - although this can mean a bit of a walk to the central hub where the catering facilities are. Generally though they are very well organised.

You need tickets to the parks, the rides are then free. You might be pushing it to do each park in one day, these places get very busy and you will spend time queuing. Magic Kingdom isn't all 50s classic stuff, although the rides are generally tame compared to the newer parks (and all Disney rides are mild compared with Universal Studios). EPCOT is big, especially if you go round the Nations bit (although if you've got kids they'll probably get very bored with that bit, so you might want to give it a miss).

Suggest you get a book called Brits Guide to Orlando and Walt Disney World - a really good guide book for all the Orlando parks and more, with loads of really useful tips.

You will love it.

I agree, since you are only going for 2 days, you only need one a day passes. Moderate resorts sound great for you. The value resorts are really great, but more geared toward kids.

No, you get all the rides at the parks with your ticket, it's not like a fair.

The weather will be cool, you might need a jacket for at night. You will love the fireworks, noon parade, and Spectro magic parade (Especially the fireworks) at Magic Kingdom ; and Illuminations, the fireworks show at Epcot. You can get the times by going to these links:

and clicking on the dates on which you will be going.

You absolutely must go on Soarin, at Epcot, which is a ride that simulates a hang glider riide across America, right down to the smells. It is absolutely amazing.!

Feel free to go to disneyworld.disney.go.com and play around to see what interests you. Epcot has some fabulous places to eat! Hope this helps. Have a wonderful time!

As you are going for only 2 nights just buy your entrance tickets at the gates. Do not try to do more than 1 park per day as you will miss alot. Do animal kingdom first then Epcot saving Magic till your last day. We stayed at Port Orleans river side, its pretty central and its close to Downtown Disney for your night life. ENJOY....

You don't need tickets for rides. All you have to pay is the entrance fee at the park's entrance. I just went there in January. I remember Epcot was about $71 per pserson after tax. Animal Kingdom was about $56.

price for going into the parks include the rides, double check with tour company or email the parks themselves, dont even think of trying two parks in one day they are Enormous!! disney land always closes with a huge firework display and i must admit i was unable to do much in the evening after a day walking around! its very tiring, if you have little ones hire the disney buggies for the kids very handy! you may have to wait in line for rides but this time of year it shouldnt be for long altho if there is a heavy downpour and lightening rides are closed and opened when clear, take plastic macs as there is nearly always a chance of warm rain, but then you can dry off in the sun anyway!!
