It's hilarious...
sometimes when I'm sick and feeling cranky i tell my girlfriend that i'm going to "drink a bottle of benadryl and go to bed" and she always freaks out, since one 25mg pill of it just about renders me unconscious.
...really whether or not it was mean depends on your intentions. you didn't intend for any harm to befall him, you just wanted him to go to bed, my vote is for not mean.

I haven't done this before. But, I don't think it's mean. Sometimes they just piss us off and we need space. I think it's okay if he was annoying you and you wanted your space.
