If an oyster gets a grain of sand stuck inside its shell, the sand irritates the oyster. The oyster might respond to the irritation by coating the sand with layers of smooth stuff that forms a pearl. Or the oyster might die. But, without the irritating grain of sand, there will be no pearl.

A good teacher will irritate you. They will irritate you by pushing you beyond the areas where you are comfortable. They will irritate you by not giving you the quick answers but instead asking you more questions and making you THINK, which can be very challenging. They will irritate you by continually expecting you to do more, think more, and learn more.
You have a choice: you can make a pearl...or die. I'm hoping that you choose to make a pearl. But the decision is up to you.

Ah, you must have a good teacher then. Your teacher's job is to teach you, NOT to be your friend. And if being annoying is the only way for your teacher to get you to learn, then they are in fact, doing what they need to be doing.

Because it's our job to challenge you to be more than you think you can be. We work from the belief that all our students are capable of greatness (or at least I do), and so we push you to be your absolute best. Unfortunately, that sometimes means that you have to learn new habits and remember difficult things. It means we can't let you sit through class without participating. It means we can't let you write notes or talk with friends during a lesson.

Pushing people to stretch intellectually and socially means making them uncomfortable, and that's annoying. Unfortunately it's also necessary. We annoy you because we want to push you to become the best student and the best person you possibly can.

Why is the IRS so annoying? Why is the DMV annoying? If these things were not annoying, we'd ignore them, and nothing in the world would get done.

Teachers are annoying because they are trying to get you to do things that are usually good for you, but you don't necessarily like to do.

Teachers do the best and one of the most important jobs. Yet, stock brokers make more than them. It takes the best people away from the profession, and brings in people who always think that the money they get for their job is less, which i think si right. Teachers should make more than stock brokers, then the best people will stay in the profession and we wont have many frustrated teachers.

Perhaps because you fail to see that projects, exams and assignments are challenges to conquer and not "work" to do. Perception has a lot to do with anyone's behaviour.
