You could do a project on fingerprints. I always thought that was really cool. There's a bunch of different kind of fingerprints and you can get people's fingerprints and then classify them. First you have to use a pencil and make a big splotch of lead on a piece of paper; enough so that if you rubbed you finger in it it would rub off onto your finger. That's exactly the next step. You have someone smear their finger in the lead. You then take a clear piece of tape, and being careful not to smudge it, you put it on the person leady finger with the sticky part on their finger. Taking, it off carefully, you put in on a piece of paper. And wah lah you have a fingerprint! Hope this helps!

The viscosity of slime!! Just finished helping an 8th grader with this, and it was amazingly easy (recipe called for glue + laundry booster & water).. we made 3 different slime recipes, adding 1 more teaspoon to each recipe... then ran about ten different tests to see what effect adding booster had on the slime... did it become more viscous (stickier- less fluid) or less viscous (runnier, thinner).

We got the idea from a book that gives science fair project ideas... There are a lot of books like that out there.

Last year's project involved plant dyes (another cool, but DIFFICULT to do, project).

The year before, she did it on the effects of soda acids on human teeth.

The slime has been the best! I don't recall the name of the book we used, but if you decide you want the slime project, please email me and I will find the title of the book by this afternoon... and/or I will send you weblinks to similar projects.

keywords for the slime project:
viscosity
viscous
non-Newtonian

Then I rubbed the Q-Tip on the gelatin. I enable them to take a seat down for some weeks, recording the adjustments each and every 3 days. it is so staggering to be certain how grimy places are! If this does not sound solid, i could recommend finding online or checking some books out of the library. wish I helped. solid luck!! going along with the coke, you can do the same with an egg- so show how bad soda pop is for your teeth, and then brush the egg to see the difference.

my son did his on probability. we bought enough small bags of M&Ms for each child in his class to have one. they dumped them on their desks (on a paper towel) and counted how many of each color. my son had to predict which color would show up the most, then determine if he had the right color or it was another color. when they were done, they got to eat their M&Ms.
