When i go to pick a server, they are all red and when i click to join one it says "You have an older version than the server, this is almost all the servers, how can i update whatever it is i have that is older to play?I am playing just the regular battlefield 2

Anyways, you might not have the right patch installed. The servers are updated to Patch v1.41, and you can't play with them since you don't have the same updates as them. Patches are free to download. But, if you download them from ea.com, it'll just take 10 hours. So I suggest to download from filefront.com

Go to EA games website and download the EA games down loader. It will tell you when a new patch is out. Then it will download it for you.
Another option, www.fileplanet.com has new files, patches, mods and more. Here you have to pay to get the files fast or join for free and you will be put in line for new files. It could take several minutes up to several hours to download using a free account.
