Here are the details: I am sometimes bored at work and occasionally log into myspace where I enter the names of long-lost friends who I'd like to reconnect with. Every now and then, one comes up -- how do I contact them without seeming like a stalker? I'm honestly just interested in catching up on how they're doing.

I do that all the time. it depends on the person though. I was best friends with one girl though half my child hood (i moved to another state) I found her on my space and said hey how have you been its was short and sweet.
If its someone Im not sure will rember me I say hay This si amanda I was just wondering how life has been for you. Or something like that.

its easy and you never look like a stalker you would be shocked to find out how many people do it.

I don't think there is anything about reconnecting. I am glad when my lost friends send me a message asking me to add them to their friend list. Send them a short message asking to be added as a friend, if they want to they will and if they don't they will just ignore it.

Just contact them and tell them you are no longer a stalker.

While overseas, I did this. I just made sure it was them, and said who I was and then took it from there.

Hi!

Just say "Hi!". You'll manage from there.

Good luck!
