I know I'm being really paraniod, but I can constantly hear my pulse going past my right ear and it sounds really grainy. I keep getting minor headaches as well, does anyone know if they might be connected. I would feel silly going to the doctors cause I can hear my pulse....

First of all, hearing your pulse is not unusual. Most people can hear their pulse if they just think about it. It may be most noticeable in a quiet environment or if you have exerted a lot of energy (running, tennis, even sex). This is normal.

Do you have high blood pressure? If so, that may be a cause of the pounding pulse and headache.

It's the frequent headaches that would concern me. Might be caused by uncontrolled high blood pressure. Other causes may be eye strain (do you wear or need glasses?), tension/stress (we all have that!), clenching or grinding your teeth, or something in the environment (caffeine, allergens, smoke). More serious and even life threatening causes include brain tumor and hydrocephalus (water on the brain; caused when the fluid in the skull increases).

Bottom line: have your headaches checked. Doctors and emergency rooms physicians see patients with chronic headaches all the time. Don't feel silly. Be smart.

You should check it out - peace of mind is always great to have. If you can't get a doctor's appt quickly, try going to a pharmacy with a blood pressure monitoring device. Ask the pharmacist what the reading means. High blood pressure can hit at any age.

wouldn't you feel more silly NOT going to the doctors and finding out rather then sitting around second guessing?
That's not something you want to mess around with. You should at least call your doctor. :-)

go to the doctor get the blood pressure checked and get a blood chemistry panel.

also have him check out your sinuses too.

you may have hypertension.. or a virus.

or both.
