how do you hack pokemongames like emerald?

okay. Well you can't actually hack your game cartridge, all the hacks you'll ever find are made entirely on PC.
You need to download a VBA (visual boy advance) from the net (just search it online, I can't remember where mine was from- but you can get them free)
Download the Emerald ROM (Read only module<- as far as I can remember) Also from the net, also can be done for free.
Then you need a program to hack them with as you obviously haven't done it before I'd suggest Advance-text 3.1 (also just search for) advance text just allows you to edit the characters text but you need to find an emerald ini file to make it work. You can try using other programs if you want but they make no sense to me.
Sorry that I can't remember any links. But they aren't too hard to find, if you get stuck, find some hacks on youtube.com and look at the comments, loads of people ask how it was done and some kind people will let you know.

It's not easy though, unless you use advance text (which is for people who aren't familiar with hex codes (which is what the games are made from))
You can get a map editor I think it's called advance-map but it doesn't work on my pc :(
If you manage this, then you can play it and record it on the VBA (there is an option to do so under File or something)
