In tennis, women seem to think that they should get the same payment as men despite doing roughly 40% less work

Should this also be applied in regular life? That a man who works 40 hours and a woman who works 24 be paid the same?

Anyone who does similar or equal work should receive equal pay. If they are truly not doing the same work, they should not receive equal pay.
As far as hours worked, each person should be paid only for the hours worked.
If they are receiving the same pay rate, no matter how many hours are worked, why is this not fair?
If you are being paid the same amount for working more hours (salary), no I don't think it's fair. Hourly wages would then be more fair.

Not always for the same reason and its not just women. Some men are paid more than other men because of stereotypes and personal beleives by the person in charge. Some times its because they are women and the person in charge has a low opinon of women but other times maybe he doesnt like her personally or maybe shes truely not as valueable as the man or another woman. Yes sexism exists but we have to world doesnt revolve around sexism alone. There are many reasons people do what that do. You really can have a man and a women try for a job and the man is more qualified. If you hire a man over a women it can be because hes the best person for the job. You can't see everything that doesnt go in a womans favor as a slap in her face. Sexism happens but its not the only reason things happen, you have to look at on a case by case bases. Some times its the good ole boy system of hiring but sometimes someone else got the job because they really deserved it more than you did. The world is more complicated than good guys and bad guys.

You should be paid equally (qualifications etc being taken in to account) for the same work. I.e, if a woman does 24 hours she should earn 24/40 of a man doing 40 hours. It should be the same hourly rate if they are equally capable of the job!

Vice versa, a man doing 24 hours a week should be paid 24/40 of what a woman doing 40 hours a week is paid, all factors considered.

Pray tell, how do women do 40% less work in tennis than men. I would like to find out so I can quit working so hard.

Each person should get paid what they are worth. If they do the same job, under the same circumstances and for the same hours they should be paid the same.

It depends on how you quantify work. If I complete an assigned task in 10 hours and my colleague does it in 20 hours, should he be paid twice as much as I do? We both did the same work but I was quicker, so base pay should be the same and I should get a bonus. This kind of argument is fruitless because you can look at it in so many ways. You are paid what the market can bear. You are paid what you can negotiate. Anything else is pure speculation.

if a man works 40 hours and a woman works 40 hours in the same position at the same place, they should receive equal pay.

sex shouldnt determine pay. although if the woman works 24 hours to do the same amount of work that the man does in 40, it should seem to be fair, but that doesnt work that way unfortunately.
