I'm traveling 1,000 miles by car on Saturday so I want to know how I can still look good while I'm doing so. I won't be the one driving

I think the most important thing to do when traveling is to feel comfortable. I would suggest maybe a sweatsuit with some fresh new colors. It's comfy and really cute!

In general, the best way to keep looking good when traveling long distances is to keep looking fresh, alert, and happy. So if you were traveling by plane, getting up at regular intervals, stretching, walking, and washing your face with cold water should help.

Traveling by car requires adjustment from this model. You don't say if you are doing the driving (that's really tough for 1000 miles) or if you are sharing the driving or if you are a passenger. Modifying the suggested routine would be somewhat different in each case. I'd try to break the 1000 miles into 4 or 5 stages at least and get out and do some brisk walking on each of the breaks. If or when you are a passenger, try to stretch and jiggle your body, wiggle your toes or swivel your ankles, of whatever non-distracting motioin you can make while you are sitting. Wash your face with cold water whenever you are in a restroom and carry wipes (scented or plain) to moisten your face when you are not at a restroom break. You should get to your destination feeling more vigorous and more relaxed, and looking fresher than you would otherwise after such a long grind.

My wife and I discussed this over lunch. She liked my answer, but set me straight as to what a woman does in this situation (it's what she did when she was younger, and would do again if necessary).

You travel with a convenient bag with your arrival clothes, jewelry, and cosmetics. You stop a few miles before your destination, go into a private bathroom (i.e., a single bathroom at a garage), change into your arrival clothes, wash upl, and redo your makeup. Then you get back into the car, arrive at your desination, and if you are complimented on your appearance, nonchalantly say thank you as if it were the most natural thing in the world. (My view is that if you are going to meet a guy, and he doesn't comment on how nice you look, you should seriously consider whether you want to drop him, because you're not likely to get better than this. But this is just my cynical male view.)

Go for comfortable layers. Find those clothes that flatter you while sitting down. Layers are great so that is it gets hot one moment, but chilly the next, you still look awesome.

Careful with the hair - don't wear it to when you wake up from sleeping on the car window, you have to brush or have a redo moment. Make sure you can run your fingers through it after a nap, and look even more stunning with the nice but messy bed head look!!

Have fun and good luck.
