If you are still in your parent's home then you are stuck living by their rules and cannot really fully become and adult as you are not making adult decisionsand running your own life. Becoming an adult is more than reaching a certain age. It is taking control of your life. For some people childhood could even be considered to be over at 15.

If you're lucky it will never be over. You can put away the things of a child but when you can't act child-like once in awhile you're taking life way too seriously.
